In a world without killing, the shelter doors stay wide,
In a world without killing, no creature has to hide,
Where every life has value, and none are cast aside,
Where compassion is the compass, and mercy is the guide.
In a world without killing, the needles bring no death,
In a world without killing, each animal draws breath,
Where "unadoptable" is just a word we left,
Where time and care and patience prove our greatest wealth.
In a world without killing, the cages all stand empty,
In a world without killing, resources flow aplenty,
Where foster homes and sanctuaries number more than twenty,
Where every soul finds safety, and second chances plenty.
In a world without killing, we see beyond the cost,
In a world without killing, no being is deemed lost,
Where the old, the sick, the fearful are not the ones we've tossed,
Where saving lives, not ending them, is worth whatever's crossed.
In a world without killing, the euthanasia room,
In a world without killing, holds no impending doom,
Where healing hands replace, the ones that sealed their tomb,
Where hope and life and futures, have the space to bloom.
In a world without killing, we build instead of break,
In a world without killing, for every creature's sake,
Where no kill is no dream, but the path we choose to take,
Where love is not convenience, but the stand we make.
